The media have posted some i4 prototype reviews online and I’m rounding them up here.

Auto Express:
The BMW i4 has left a fantastic first impression on us. It’s an electric car designed for EV sceptics, with a long range, solid recharging technology and excellent driving dynamics. If the price is right, BMW has nailed it.

Autocar:
It moves away in a wonderfully smooth manner. The two motors are super responsive. The throttle is also superbly calibrated, allowing you to meter out the power well. This all makes for tremendous ease of driving in everyday situations, where the M50 is both tremendously well refined and sufficiently powerful to give it very brisk qualities.

Electrifying:
The i4 is an all-round convincing offer for all those who do not want to completely erase their memories of the good old days when switching to electric motoring. It's not as revolutionary or dramatic as some other electric cars, and shows little of the brave design we saw with BMW's first electric model, the i3. But that is perhaps what the majority of drivers want - and BMW is rarely wrong.

Couple more reviews:

Car and Driver:
In all, the i4 seems to be exactly what it ought to be: a BMW that is electric. Unlike the i3, which wore its early adopter nerd pride on its bodywork, with the exception of its massive 4-series-style grille the conservatively styled i4 represents the arrival of the electric car at the mainstream of modern performance luxury. It shows us how far along the electric game has moved toward the mainstream now that brands such as BMW are taking it seriously. In that sense, the i4 just might, like the 3-series before it, become a benchmark for the electric sports-sedan segment. And what could be more BMW than that?

Car Buyer:
When it goes on sale later this year, the all-electric BMW i4 will be a direct rival to the Tesla Model 3 and a genuine electric alternative to conventionally powered versions of the 3 Series. It looks set to match the Model 3 for technology and range, which should be enough for most owners. Add to this BMW’s reputation for producing great driver’s cars, plus the premium badge, and the i4 could well be a tempting alternative to the Model 3 for buyers that want to make the switch to electric.
